Jesus Christ. If even the Daily Mail objects to you abolishing a deeply flawed, toothless regulatory body that can’t stand up to industry pressure (see, for example, their persistent determination  to convince us that GM food is perfectly safe and organics aren’t better for you) on the grounds that the alternative appears far, far worse then, well…. Bloody hell.

What’s the logic? Since public health and nutrition information are routinely compromised by corporate lobbying, in these straitened times we might as well just cut out the middleman and get the people who promote junk food to fund a ‘healthy lifestyle campaign’ directly?
