Saturday morning links

February 19, 2011

I have decided not to go to the British Library today after all.

Instead, I had a lie-in and marked several hundred google reader items as read. I will shortly move on to absent-mindedly highlighting words in academic articles and maybe cleaning the kitchen floor.

Among the blog posts I actually did read, two foodie things particularly grabbed my attention.

A post on the food industry’s advertising to women from The Pursuit of Harpyness (who are my new favourite feminist blog since the sad demise of Bitch PhD) and a report on people of colour in the food system (via Raj Patel) and why this matters to the ‘good food movement’ which focuses predominantly on the relationship between producer and consumer. It’s worth remembering that organic certification includes no standards about labour, e.g. paying farm workers minimum wage.
